Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 2026. This policy explains what Delfontiax collects, why, and how it fits Canadian privacy law — PIPEDA, CASL, and Québec's Law 25.
Who we are
Delfontiax (delfontiax.com) is an independent, non-commercial fan editorial project run by three people based in Halifax, Nova Scotia. We are not a registered corporation. For any privacy question or request, our designated contact — acting as our privacy officer — is reachable at [email protected].
What we collect
Contact form: if you write to us via the contact form, we collect your name, email address, and the message you send, along with your consent checkbox selection.
Server logs: our hosting provider automatically records standard technical logs (IP address, browser user-agent, page requested, timestamp) for security and reliability purposes, retained for a limited period.
Push subscription (if you opt in): if you choose to enable browser push notifications, OneSignal, Inc. — our push notification processor — collects a device/browser subscription identifier and any tags we set (such as which page you subscribed from) so it can deliver updates you asked for. We do not collect a phone number anywhere on this site.
Why we collect it
We use contact-form data solely to read and respond to your message. We use push-subscription data solely to send you occasional updates about the games list, if and only if you actively opted in. Server logs exist for basic security and to keep the site running.
Legal basis and consent
Under PIPEDA, we rely on your meaningful, informed consent for anything beyond what's needed to respond to a request you initiated. Consent for the contact form and for push notifications is opt-in — the consent checkbox is never pre-ticked, and browser permission for notifications is requested only after you take an action inviting it. Under CASL, any commercial electronic message (including push notifications framed as updates) requires your prior consent, sender identification, and a working way to unsubscribe, which we provide. You can withdraw consent at any time, as easily as you gave it — email us, or turn off notifications in your browser settings.
Who we share data with
- Hosting provider: processes server logs as part of running the site.
- OneSignal, Inc. (United States) — acts as our processor for web push notifications if you opt in. OneSignal loads a script from its own CDN, registers a browser service worker, and stores subscription data in your browser's local storage/IndexedDB in order to deliver notifications. We do not sell personal data to anyone, and we do not use advertising networks or profiling analytics on this site.
Cross-border data transfer
Because OneSignal is a U.S. company, opting into push notifications means your subscription data is processed outside Canada, including in the United States. This transfer relies on OneSignal's own contractual safeguards (standard contractual clauses / data protection framework commitments). As required under Québec's Law 25, we are disclosing this transfer here rather than treating it as incidental — no data is transferred outside Canada unless you actively opt in to push notifications.
Retention
Contact-form messages are kept only as long as needed to resolve your inquiry, generally no more than 24 months, then deleted. Push-subscription data is kept until you unsubscribe or the subscription naturally expires from inactivity. Server logs are rotated on a short, routine schedule by our hosting provider.
Your rights
Under PIPEDA and Law 25, you can request access to the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, and withdraw any consent you've given. To exercise any of these, email [email protected] — we'll respond within a reasonable time.
How to complain
If you're unsatisfied with how we've handled your personal information, you can file a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (priv.gc.ca). If you are a resident of Québec, you may also contact the Commission d'accès à l'information (CAI).
Automated tracking
We do not run advertising pixels, behavioral analytics, or profiling scripts. The only automated processing on this site is the OneSignal push-subscription mechanism described above, and only for visitors who opt in. If you accept cookies via our consent banner, that consent is limited to enabling this optional push mechanism — nothing else is switched on by it.
Children's privacy
This site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone we know to be under 13.
Changes to this policy
We'll update the date at the top of this page whenever this policy changes materially.
